Soon it will be time to bid farewell to 2022 and say hello to 2023! We’ve gathered some family-friendly activities to help you celebrate with the kiddos in an age-appropriate way in the Montclair area, in New Jersey and beyond. Check ‘em out!

Kick off the new year a day early with a New Year’s Eve Craft and Storytime Party at Montclair Public Library’s Bellevue Avenue Branch (185 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair) on Friday, December 30, from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM. Join in to make a New Year’s Eve hat, then listen to a story and dance. Suggested for ages 2 to 6. Registration is required. Party Toy Favor Set

Battleship New Jersey (62 Battleship Place, Camden) will host two events on New Year’s Eve events. At 6:00 PM and Midnight, watch fireworks over the Delaware River from the historic deck of the Battleship New Jersey. Enjoy food, music, food concessions, and a cash bar for adults. Attendees also have the chance to fire a Gun Salute. Tours are part of the fireworks shows. Tickets are $10 donation for either show. Additionally, an Admiral’s VIP New Year’s Fireworks Experience is also available and includes appetizers, beer, wine, and soft drinks in the heated Admiral’s and Captain’s Cabins. The VIP event is a $100 donation.

Bowlero Brunswick Zone Belleville Lanes (679 Washington Avenue, Belleville): Book a daytime family party package for some bowling fun. Package includes 2 hours of unlimited bowling (shoes included), a kid-friendly signature menu including chips and salsa, cheese or pepperoni pizza, Caesar salad, chicken tenders, French fries and cookies. Crystal Springs Resort (Sussex County, NJ): The resort offers a variety of family-friendly dinner events with entertainment, including a New Year’s Day breakfast. Some events require an overnight stay. Check out the website for specific details.

Fairview Lake YMCA Camps (1035 Fairview Road, Newton) will host New Year’s Eve Family Camp from December 30 through January 1. You’ll stay in one of the year-round cabins with electricity and a private bathroom. Meals are included and served in the dining hall. Activities are led by staff and volunteers. Cost for the weekend is $175 for adults (18+), $145 for children ages 12-17, $120 for children ages 5-11, and free for children ages 4 and under.

First Night Morris 2023 (20 Venues across Downtown Morristown): First Night® Morris County began in 1992 and is the LARGEST First Night® in New Jersey, attracting nearly 10,000 participants each year. An alcohol-free and substance-free celebration of arts and culture, First Night® Morris County attracts families, seniors, singles and anyone looking for an exciting way to ring in the New Year! iPlay America (110 Schanck Road, Freehold): Enjoy a night of rides, party favors, confetti cannons, DJ, giveaways and more from 7:30 PM to 1:00 AM. Dining options include Game Time Bar & Grill and in-park concessions, and reservations are recommended. Party Passes start at $42.99 online until 7:00 PM on NYE. After that, tickets must be purchased at the door for a higher rate. Toddlers under 36 inches are free. Private VIP suites are also available.

The Little Gym of Roxbury (470 Rte 10 West, Ledgewood) will host a New Year’s Eve parties for children ages 4 months to 12 years old from 10:15 to 11:30 AM and 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM. Both will include a ball drop, noise makers, gymnastics, and lots of celebrating. Enroll online. Cost is $35 for members and $45 for non-members.

Sesame Place (100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, PA) Ring in the new year with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and Count von Count, as their music fills the air, and the sky is covered with colorful bursts of brilliance. Fireworks will begin at 7:00 PM.

The Shannon Rose (98 Kingsland Road, Clifton) will host a Kids Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM as the clock strikes midnight in Dublin. There will be face painters, bag pipers, balloons, and a celebratory toast. Reservations are required.

Staten Island Children’s Museum (1000 Richmond Terrace, Bldg M, Staten Island, NY) will host Noon Year’s Eve Dance Party from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Get your groove on for the new year. You are invited to a special Noon Year’s Eve Dance Party complete with party favors and a special countdown!
